Indian Revival Group is one of the principal dance ensembles of the country, which completes 60 years of unbroken chain of existence since its inception in 1948. Founded by Shri Yog Sunder, a product of Tagore’s Shantiniketan & Gandhian ideologies & a distinguished choreographer who ranks amongst the pioneers, the Group has crossed important milestones.
The Group has been a cultural ambassador of India, representing the country as an official cultural delegation & had the honour of performing at the first command performance for the first Prime Minister & President of India at the Rashtrapati Bhawan. The group has produced many productions of high artistic merit designed by great masters. The first brochure was designed by none other than Satyajit Ray.
The Group has represented the country many times abroad as official cultural delegation. It has performed in USSR, Egypt, Yugoslavia, Hungary, Turkey, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Tanzania, Kenya, & Afghanistan. The Group received rave reviews in the foreign Press with front-page news and photographs. The Group was one of the three selected by the Government of India to represent India at the sixth World Youth Festival, Moscow. The Group also represented India at the International Dance Festival, Iraq & Turkey and won awards and distinction. The Group has performed in the Cultural Festival of India, London, 1985, Tagore Festival, U.K. & Scotland, 1986, Cultural festival of India, U.S.A-1991, Festival Of India, Island of Reunion-1992 sponsored by the Govt. of France in, 8 cities of Japan sponsored by Indo Japan Goodwill Association in 1997.The Group represented Delhi city in Tokyo as part of the Chief Minister’s delegation at the Asian Network of Metropolitan Cities in 2001.
